WWE WrestleMania 33: Becky Lynch Needs to Win the Women’s Championship

With the women of SmackDown Live set to battle for the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, Becky Lynch needs to walk out of Orlando as the new champion.

Since the brand extension occurred back in July the women on SmackDown Live has stepped up to be the deeper division than the Raw brand. While the latter, at the moment, has Bayley, Charlotte and Sasha Banks, this crop of talent dips significantly after those three.

SmackDown Live, on the other hand, has built a division that features veterans like Mickie James, Naomi and Natalya and rising stars like Carmella and the current Women’s champion, Alexa Bliss. With so much competition it was tough for Daniel Bryan to pick one to face Bliss at WreslteMania.

Instead of picking one, Bryan decided that every available female on the SmackDown Live roster would be competing for the Women’s championship. With all the women going for the championship the question is now who should walk out with the championship. The answer is Becky Lynch.

Lynch became the first overall female taken by Team Blue back during the draft in July. The feeling was that Lynch would become the face of division on SmackDown Live. This quickly seemed to be true when she won the debuting SmackDown Live Women’s Championship at Backlash in September.

However, after injuries and personal issues, the Irish Lass Kicker’s reign has been considered a bit of an afterthought. In her first ever PPV defense, she lost the championship to Alexa Bliss at TLC in December.

Since then Bliss has become the face of the division as she has held the championship for the most part since December. Lynch, though, came up on a number of occasions to win the championship back before entering a feud with Mickie James.

WrestleMania, though, should be the event though that Becky wins back the championship. The Lass Kicker winning the championship at the big event would finally put her back on top where she was always viewed to be on SmackDown.

After coming up short most of her career in big matches, winning at WrestleMania would finally give Lynch the big win that we’ve been waiting for her to have. Winning the championship at WrestleMania would also allow Alexa Bliss the chance to move over to Raw.

More from WrestleMania

With Raw needing more top women and the fact that WWE might look at shaking up the rosters, Bliss could move over to Raw and enter some big feuds with the likes of Charlotte and Bayley.

Then there’s Lynch, who could finally become the franchise female on SmackDown Live that we thought she was going to be. She could then enter feuds with the likes of Mickie James, Carmella and whoever might come over from Raw, perhaps Sasha Banks.

Sasha has stated in the past that she wants to be on SmackDown Live, as it was her favorite brand growing up. A move to Tuesday nights would give her that wish and could give fans the chance to see Becky and Sasha battle in a feud.

The two had a program down in NXT with the two putting on some fantastic matches. However, the two have yet to really cross paths in a major feud on the main roster. This would finally give them the chance.
