WrestleMania 33 is in the books and now it’s time for the new champion Randy Orton to begin his ninth reign as WWE Champion.

The Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt saga has turned another chapter with the Viper’s win at WrestleMania.  While Wyatt does have a rematch clause, should Orton continue on as champion past that he will have some incredible talents on Smackdown to contend with.

Orton has been putting on some of his best work with his program with Wyatt.  This entire storyline has been exceptionally well done from start to finish.  Orton was just what Wyatt needed to get him to the main event and if anything he helped Wyatt solidify his position on Smackdown.  Both men have evolved with this storyline to which that is always a good thing.

With Wyatt, he won’t just fade out.  Maybe a feud with Luke Harper should be great.  Harper has made the babyface turn by turning on his former mentor at the Royal Rumble.  Whether that is in the cards or not has to be determined.  But Wyatt should have no problems for a good feud to keep his hands busy during the summer.  Now that he’s tasted the main event, it’s just the beginning for the Eater of the Worlds.

Now that this feud is in its final chapters, it is time for the two men to move on once their rematch happens.  In the event Orton retains, there is plenty to look forward to as the company moves on through the summer towards SummerSlam.  Smackdown has its depth issues and is far from perfect, but once again the show has been working with what they have to the best of their ability.

And in the case of Orton that will be no problem, especially with his great work in the ring.  There is always a chance to revisit rivalries with a new twist and then there are new faces that are ready and willing to challenge the Viper.  He isn’t short on opponents, and he will definitely be busy in the meantime regardless of who challenges him from this point on.

How long his reign will last is unknown, but things won’t come easy, especially with NXT call ups and the WWE Draft down the road.  It’s not a walk in the park, but Orton is used to that scenario.  He knows what it takes to keep the Championship around his waist.  We just may be in for a great program leading into SummerSlam.

Let’s get into potential opponents that can challenge the Viper.
