Roman Reigns

When Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania 33, the former going straight to the WWE Universal Championship scene seemed possible; he had just potentially retired a WWE legend, so why not throw someone with that much momentum into the title hunt?

Well, Lesnar and Paul Heyman did call Reigns out on the night after WrestleMania. However, Strowman answered the call, putting any title aspirations for the Big Dog to the side. This may be due to WWE’s plan of pitting Lesnar and Reigns at WrestleMania 34.

If WWE still wants to wait for April 2018, then the former Shield man isn’t winning at Extreme Rules. In fact, it would be an upset and a drastic shift in plans.

WWE had Reigns vs. Lesnar set for WrestleMania 31’s main event and went through with it. However, Rollins interfered to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, taking away this one-on-one matchup. So WWE may look to do this three years later.

While it takes away most of Reigns’ chances of winning at Extreme Rules, WWE can still hotshot him into the title mix if they’re concerned about Great Balls of Fire ticket sales. He vs. Lesnar would be a draw, although having little chance of ending clean. Would the company risk giving this away, though?

Odds of winning: Slim to none
