WWE SummerSlam 2017: Match Card Predictions After Great Balls of Fire

AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

It looked like Kevin Owens and AJ Styles would battle for the WWE United States Championship at Battleground. Then Styles shockingly won the title from Owens at the WWE live event at Madison Square Garden. It changed the look of Battleground and SummerSlam.

There’s the chance Owens vs. Styles happens at Battleground unless there’s an injury or other change in plans. If it’s not KO at SummerSlam, then could it be Shinsuke Nakamura?

In the lead-up to Money in the Bank and at the show, Styles and Nakamura had in-ring standoffs. None of them topped what happened at Money in the Bank, as they went head-to-head and even fought inside the ring. It didn’t last long, but gave fans enough of a tease to want to see them fight in a standard match.

Could this be at SummerSlam? If Nakamura doesn’t continue his feud with Baron Corbin after Battleground, then it’s a possibility. They can battle, with the United States Championship as only background noise.

Having Styles vs. Nakamura at SummerSlam doesn’t mean it can’t happen again, especially if it becomes a must-see match. WWE can put them together at WrestleMania 34 and hope for similar success, while making even more money on them.
