Neville

I thought long and hard about making this entry CM Punk. When I wrote about longshot surprises for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, I included AJ Lee as a possibility. But the likelihood of CM Punk appearing at the Rumble is the same as a Jurassic Park movie not featuring a T Rex.

So instead, I went with that other guy who was a beloved indie wrestler that came to WWE, performed at a higher level than most of the other guys on the roster, and won championships before getting fed up with creative and walking out to never be seen again. Neville hasn’t been seen by the WWE Universe since October, when he walked out to do what everyone assumes is creative differences. Despite rumors that Neville was nearing a return at one point, the belief is that he’ll sit out the rest of his contract before moving on.

But the recent turmoil affecting the cruiserweight division may lead to WWE sending a truck full of money to Neville’s house to try and lure him back. While smart money would be on his return coming to impact 205 Live and the cruiserweight division, an appearance in the Rumble isn’t out of the question. In fact, it may be a good thing to eradicate the distinction between “cruiserweights” and “heavyweights” – much like Goldust is doing as of late.

The fans would welcome Neville back with open arms. I really don’t see it happening at all, but you never know. A couple of months off, a potentially fresh 205 Live about to kick off – a bit of a head clearing break may be just what the doctor ordered for Neville.
