5: A fresh face inside the chamber

Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Bayley, Mickie James, Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss will be known as the first women to step inside the Elimination Chamber. While that line up has a mix of young upstarts, respected veterans, and in-their-prime athletes, the terrible booking of those superstars on the road to this match slowed their momentum down immensely. As Absolution has presented been a one-dimensional group whose sole goal is to beat up the Raw women’s division and Bayley’s poor handling had turned most of her fanbase against her.

Don’t forget Sasha Banks’s bumpy road ever since she turned babyface, and the fact that Mickie James has been treated terribly considering her veteran status. Therefore, most would think that heading into arguably one of the most important matches of the year WWE would book those superstars strongly, and while WWE gave Bayley, Banks and Alexa Bliss a chance to showcase their talent, the other competitors were mere fillers in a match that should’ve been their resurgence and breakout performances.

Participants such as Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville and Mickie James didn’t make the impact they should’ve. To have avoided that problem WWE should have used this perfect environment as an introduction for the next big stars in the women’s division, and NXT has produced countless breakouts stars for the main roster over the last decade. The developmental show of the company houses some of the best wrestlers in the world and WWE wasted the biggest opportunity of the pay-per-view by not giving one of them a spot at the Elimination Chamber.

The presence of Absolution was a wasteful one as WWE had no intentions to make stars out of them, instead a future prospect such as the extremely talented Ember Moon, the iconic duo of Billy Kay and Peyton Royce or the crazed Nikki Cross, could’ve been made into legitimate stars, inside the first women’s Elimination Chamber match. High stakes, an enormous stage and an all-around big fight feel could’ve been the perfect breeding ground for a breakout star to shatter the glass ceiling.
