Chelsea Green, Robbie E Would Be Perfect Fits For WWE
WWE is holding tryouts for more wrestlers at the Performance Center this week, and former Impact Wrestling stars Chelsea Green and Robbie E are the biggest names spotted at the tryout. Here’s why both wrestlers would be natural fits for the most powerful wrestling promotion in the world.
Late last year, I ranked the 20 best characters in professional wrestling, and Chelsea Green found her way on the list for her portrayal of the zany, manipulative “Hot Mess”, Laurel Van Ness. Not only was that “Hot Mess”/”Van Ness” rhyme awesome, but the character itself was one of the most creative characters in wrestling at the time. She parlayed her rise in the Knockouts Division to a run with the Knockouts Championship, and her hilarious segments always brightened my day.
That said, she’s more than just that type of character. There’s a reason why she’s had great success in a tag team with Britt Baker, and there’s a reason why she was booked to All In early. Green is a big deal in pro wrestling, and she could be a star in WWE due to her versatility and passion for the sport.
Robbie E also had a great character with Impact Wrestling, somehow making a “Jersey Shore” inspired character work long after the show ceased to exist (as Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin pointed out). He can play other characters, too, and I think he is one of the most underrated talkers in the business. (Then again, anyone who has listened to his “Why It Ended” podcast probably doesn’t underrate his ability to speak to an audience.)
Both Green and Robbie E were spotted at NXT’s recent tryouts in a video posted on Instagram, as per Pro Wrestling Sheet.

WWE’s interest in both wrestlers shouldn’t come as a surprise, and ever since Green left Impact after becoming Knockouts Champion, it always seemed like she was ticketed for a tryout with WWE. The Mae Young Classic II is coming up, and Green would be an excellent entrant in the showcase of women’s wrestling, which was a huge success last year. She won’t win, but she could be a standout as an entertaining character, much like Lacey Evans was in 2017.
Of these two wrestlers, Green has the most star potential, because she shined brightly in Impact as a champion in her peak with the company. But Robbie E would be just as good of a fit for WWE. He’s also capable of being in multiple roles for a company, and I could envision him either being a fixture in the tag team division or a lower-card comedy act who creates a niche for himself. Either way, Robbie E and Chelsea Green have more than enough talent to stick with WWE for the long haul and hold titles in the future, if signed.
Although some fans get annoyed when WWE signs great wrestlers who achieved success at other promotions or on the Independent scene, the increased paycheck and exposure that comes with signing with WWE are both huge positives for the performers themselves. I’m all for wrestlers getting more money and reaching more eyeballs, even if it means missing out on some of the positives that other promotions provide.
In the cases of Green and Robbie E, these are two wrestlers who have the tools, the promo skills, and the character work to become huge hits in NXT and eventually earn their respective places on the main roster. With Women’s Tag Team Titles potentially on the horizon, that could be yet another opportunity for Green to make a big splash in WWE.

It will be interesting to hear more about these two tryouts, in addition to the other tryouts happening right now at WWE’s Performance Center. There’s no doubt that Chelsea Green and Robbie E are big names with the talent and accolades to back up the name recognition, and I wish them the best of success regardless of which promotion they are working for in 2019.
