2. Candice LeRae Defeats Shayna Bayzler To Become The New NXT Women’s Champion
Two weeks ago on NXT, Candice Lerae won a Fatal 4-Way match against Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, and Mia Yim to become the next number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. It has been a long time coming for LeRae to attain an NXT Women’s Championship match, but she must get past one of the most dominant NXT Women’s Champion to date: Shayna Bayzler.

From a booking standpoint, Shayna Bazler has held the championship long enough to finally drop it to an up-and-coming babyface. Whether she loses the championship now or at the next NXT Takeover, she needs to pass the torch as soon as possible to refresh the NXT Women’s Division.
From a storyline standpoint, Candice LeRae winning the NXT Women’s Championship is a smart booking decision because she can then move on to feud with her former friend and current enemy, Io Shirai. These two had a fallout very recently and may have settled their grievances at NXT Takeover: Toronto in August. However, since Io Shirai won that match, expect her to be first in line for LeRae’s championship if LeRae happens to dethrone Bayzler.
From an insider’s standpoint, Shayna Bayzler has been rumored to make her way to the main roster sooner rather than later. In order to do that, she must drop the NXT Women’s Championship and the ideal person to drop it to is a top babyface in WWE NXT whom the fans can get behind.
It’s always hard to believe that someone as dominant as Shayna Bazyler can ever lose a match. Nonetheless, she is not invincible and her immense power and strength can certainly be defeated by the heart and soul of Candice LeRae.
