NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Undisputed Era vs. Keith Lee and Dominick Dijakovic

Despite not having a ton of tandems to work with, NXT has a fairly solid tag team division at the moment. However, with Street Profits making the move full-time to Raw recently, current reigning NXT Tag Team champions Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish are in need of some fresh challengers.

Enter Keith Lee and Dominick Dijakovic.

The series of matches those two have had in NXT alone has been nothing short of spectacular. It’s no secret that they bring the best out of each other, and if they aren’t going to face each other one-on-one again at TakeOver: WarGames III, they might as well join forces to fight for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

It isn’t entirely random, either. Lee and Dijakovic just vied for Roderick Strong’s NXT North American Championship on this week’s NXT, and following their failure to take the title, Lee was laid out by all of Undisputed Era.

Dijakovic disappeared from ringside during the beatdown, but that doesn’t necessarily mean his beef with Undisputed Era is over. It can be easily explained that Lee and Dijakovic have found a mutual respect for each other and have chosen to combat common enemies in Fish and O’Reilly.

Besides, it’s not like there’s another obvious match for Fish and O’Reilly on the show, not to mention how utterly awesome this tag team affair appears on paper.

WarGames Match: Baszler, Duke, and Shafir vs. Nox, Kai, and LeRae vs. Ripley, Shirai, and Belair

The WarGames match has been a staple in NXT since 2017 when it was brought back for the first time in over a decade and a half. Fans were concerned the gimmick would grow old after a while due to it becoming an annual event (similar to WWE Hell in a Cell), but the band has done a tremendous job of making it feel fresh and exciting every year.

More from NXT

In fact, there was the chance to do not one but two WarGames matches with all the intertwined storylines going on at the moment, but Finn Balor’s aforementioned attack on Johnny Gargano basically ruled that out as a possibility for the men.

In other words, a women’s WarGames matchup is all but a guarantee for next month’s TakeOver.

Despite holding the NXT Women’s Championship for one year this month, Shayna Baszler still has a ton of women waiting in the wings to challenge her. There are also plenty of others she’s already faced/beaten who are gunning for another opportunity at the title.

Therefore, a women’s WarGames main event at TakeOver is more plausible now than ever before.

We saw three trios duke it out in WarGames two years ago, so there’s no reason it can’t be done with the women this time around. Baszler and her cronies Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir are obviously established as a unit, while it’s well documented that Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, and Candice LeRae are all close and have history with Baszler.

Granted, there’s bad blood between Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, and Io Shirai, but it can be said that they’re willing to work together to fight a common cause. Lest we forget, Ripley mocked Nox for her injury last year, not to mention how Shirai hates LeRae and Belair beat Kai two weeks ago.

NXT must book this bout to take full advantage of the elite level of talent in the women’s division at the moment and showcase their skills in the grandest way possible.
