We have not seen Cain Velasquez inside of a WWE ring since Brock Lesnar beat him in Saudi Arabia. Now, the question remains if he’ll ever wrestle for WWE again.

As many fans in the WWE Universe may have noticed last night, Cain Velasquez – after many predicted him to be the one to eliminate Brock Lesnar from the match – did not make an appearance in the Royal Rumble match. Granted, he was never officially announced for the bout, but he did mention that he make an appearance in an interview with The Sun that appeared to be a confirmation at the time.

But alas, that appearance never came. What has come since, however, is a report from acclaimed journalist Tom Colohue, who tweeted that he learned from insiders within WWE that Cain Velasquez was actually told by WWE that he would be in the Royal Rumble, only to be pulled from the match at the last second.

While there are a bevy of reasons why WWE may have decided against featuring Velasquez in the match after a second thought, this feels all the more glaring after past reports suggesting that the former UFC fighter had falling out of favor with the company.

The reason being reported for a falling out is because Velasquez neglected to tell management that he was dealing with a serious injury before signing a huge contract, which reportedly got him heat with backstage management.

While this instance may not be directly related to or even correlate with the reason why he was removed from the Royal Rumble, it certainly is not a good sign for his future with the company. Add to the fact that it was previously rumored that Cain Velasquez would be facing Brock Lesnar in a title rematch at WrestleMania.
