Adam Cole is arguably the best NXT Champion, so far. No one else’s reign can compare to his in terms of match quality and exposure to the WWE Universe as the first champion to represent the brand on network television.

On a stacked roster, Cole has stood out as the flagbearer for the” black and gold brand” at the height of its popularity. He has several high-profile wins under his belt. Last year, he successfully defended the title against NXT stalwart Johnny Gargano, Matt Riddle, ACH, Pete Dunne, Finn Balor, and even Daniel Bryan.

With that in mind, a win over Cole will cement the new champion as the next big thing. If anyone deserves this opportunity, it’s the Velveteen Dream.

Like Rhea Ripley, who experienced a similar push after she dethroned Shayna Baszler, Dream isn’t exactly a homegrown star but he’s the type of young up-and-comer WWE should highlight.

At just 24 years old, this could be the biggest win of his career. Unlike some of his peers, he doesn’t have acclaim as an indie wrestler to draw on. They don’t need an NXT title win to define them. On the other hand, this could be a star-making moment for Dream that would bring his journey to the company through Tough Enough full circle.

If the Velveteen Dream doesn’t go on to win the NXT Championship at TakeOver: Tampa, it’s only a matter of time before he wins a major world title. He’s destined to be a star, and WWE should capitalize on him as soon as possible. After all, the initial intent of NXT was to develop future Superstars.
