AEW Battle of the Belts 2 features a big debut for the company as current Progress World Champion and Ring of Honor World Champion, Jonathan Gresham is on the card. He has a title defense slated against Dalton Castle in what should be a strong match on the show. While full details about how ROH and AEW will continue to function as separate brands and titles aren’t widely known, fans should still be excited to see Gresham on such a big stage. If this means more Gresham in AEW in the future, these are three dream matches that would send viewers through the roof.

Swerve Strickland

Swerve’s addition to the AEW roster has been a big boost in 2022. Everything about him screams “main-event star” and he presents himself as such. His continuing feud with Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs is one of the better angles going on within the company and truly highlights what fans already knew about all four men. In a storyline and eventual singles matches, Strickland and Gresham is exactly the type of content that wrestling fans turn to AEW to provide.

PAC

Some consider PAC to be overshadowed on the AEW roster. But do not be confused, this man can hang with the best professional wrestlers the industry has to offer. Hopefully, there will be a time when PAC is standing at the top of the AEW roster, with the World Championship firmly across his waist. Until then, he will continue putting on some of the best matches on the show, regardless of whom stands across from him.

PAC versus Gresham is a match that could help elevate Gresham in the eyes of AEW viewers who may not be too familiar with his body of work. Seeing them put together a 20–30-minute matchup is exactly the type of showcase to emphasize that Gresham can work with any style in the industry.

Bryan Danielson

This is the dream match that both men have talked about. The moment that Bryan Danielson became a free agent, the idea of him facing off against Gresham became a reality. Now, they are both in AEW and the opportunity is smiling brightly. Imagine a full-blown arc where Gresham is recruited to join the Blackpool Combat Club, only to turn them down – having to fight all three men at some point. While matches against Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta would be fun, the pairing of Gresham versus Danielson is PPV-worthy. And whatever event it is on, best believe they will steal the show.
