On November 25, WWE Monday Night Raw General Manager Adam Pearce introduced the world to the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Along with the WWE Women’s United States Championship, it’s a move meant to shore up the mid-card in the women’s division. While this isn’t the only step to take, it is a move in the right direction. Looking at the plethora of talented women on the WWE Raw roster. Here are three names and some honorable mentions who stand out as the right candidates to be the first to hold that championship.

Honorable Mentions: Kayden Carter & Natalya

Kayden Carter is truly a dark horse to capture a singles championship in WWE. While she’s a two-time tag team champion in WWE, seeing her pick up a singles title would surprise a lot of people. However, Carter is a talented in-ring performer with a diverse move set that should not be ignored. Fans are most familiar with her run in WWE starting back in 2018, but she’s shown flashes throughout the independent circuit as well.

Natalya is a safe bet to pick up the IC title. She’s a veteran’s veteran, and someone that the entirety of women’s wrestling looks up to. If WWE wanted to go with a “safe bet” of someone who can hold that title first and eventually put over a surging performer, Natalya is the woman for the job.

Dakota Kai

Fans have long wanted to see Dakota Kai have her moment. She’s one of those fan favorites who has suffered through so many bad breaks throughout her career. First, it was knee injuries, then it was being released, and she was brought back, just to suffer additional knee injuries. If Kai can stay healthy, she can become one of the biggest babyfaces in the women’s division. Putting the Intercontinental Championship around her waist would kick things off with excitement and interest in her title reign.

Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler is another one of those performers who hasn’t received the same type of push on the main roster. She’s credible in all aspects of both sport and entertainment. Baszler is a two-time NXT Women’s Champion and a three-time Women’s Tag Team Champion. Many feel she has the abilities to be a main roster champion, both for her in-ring and character work. Yet, she remains slotted in a midcard, supporting role that limits the heights she can reach. Putting the new title on Baszler would help rekindle interest in a singles push.

Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega is another popular star in the WWE women’s division. Look back to her match against Rhea Ripley at WWE Backlash as a reminder of how she can connect with her fanbase. She’s a veteran who has been around for a long time, not only in the WWE but beyond. It would be a career-making moment to see her capture the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and she her go on a healthy run as the first person to claim that title.
