How The Rock Enhanced Rusev’s Career on Monday Night Raw

If you watched Monday Night Raw or were even there in the Barclays Center, you saw the Rock make a stunning return to programming to confront Rusev and Lana, who were both in the ring boasting about how Big Show wouldn’t come down to the ring due to his “sensitivity training.”

The dialogue between Rock and the international duo was highly entertaining and made for one of the better segments of the entire year. It resulted in the Great One punching Rusev out of the ring and standing tall to end the segment. Some saw this as a negative for the Bulgarian Brute, but this will only do wonders for his career.

Some are also saying that Rock did not put Rusev over, which is an incorrect statement.

First, just the fact that these two were in the ring together should speak for itself. Rusev’s undefeated streak was put over along with his dominating physical appearance. Rock also did not give him the People’s Elbow or a Rock Bottom to make him look weak-it was just a handful of punches to send him flying out of the ring. At the same time, he put over Lana in the process with her looks (along with a few hilarious jokes).

Their confrontation showed how seriously WWE is taking Rusev as a top heel. While Rock’s appearance was scheduled last minute, they didn’t just throw him in a random segment to hype the WWE Network or be an ambassador for something else like what they’ve done with Hulk Hogan. They put him in the ring with someone who they clearly feel highly of and wanted to establish more legitimacy after only being involved with low-card or mid-card stars like Big E, Jack Swagger, and Xavier Woods since joining the main roster in April.

Then, if you had any doubt about Rusev’s chances against Big Show in this feud, you can safely remove those thoughts. There is no chance that Show will topple him now that he got this rub from Rock. Plus, the hero of the Russian Federation will be extremely angry and probably will crush the World’s Largest Athlete next Monday on Raw.

This also signifies that once Rusev is done with Big Show, he’ll be moving onto more high profile rivalries. Maybe that John Cena feud happens sooner than later? Possibly at WrestleMania 31?

With whatever happens after this, if you do not think that the Rock put over Rusev in their segment on Monday Night Raw, watch the segment again. It established his standing within WWE and showed that the future is bright for him.
