Fantasy Booking: Brock Lesnar-The Undertaker III Inside Hell in a Cell

facebooktwitterreddit

Sure, we already saw Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker fight an absolute war in a Hell in a Cell match 13 years ago, but it’s exactly how their current rivalry should end 13 years later.

More from Brock Lesnar

On the July 20th edition of Monday Night Raw, fans were tuned in to one of the greatest brawl segments in WWE history. Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker literally beat the hell out of each other for a solid 15 minutes, while the entire Raw locker room attempted to break up the two combatants.

The two finally got it on again in a physical WrestleMania XXX rematch this past Sunday at SummerSlam, which ended in quite the controversy. Lesnar made The Undertaker tap to the Kimura Lock, but the submission was undetected by referee Charles Robinson, but was seen by the timekeeper of the match, who then rang the bell.

Robinson did not see The Undertaker tap out, but while Robinson was arguing with the timekeeper, The Undertaker drilled Lesnar with a low blow from behind, then locked in his Hell’s Gate submission hold. Lesnar didn’t tap, but he passed out, and The Undertaker was declared the winner of the match.

Did you follow all of that? Good.

However, things have slowed down in the Lesnar-Undertaker rivalry, as The Undertaker flew home to Texas before his appearance this past Monday on Raw. During his walk back to the locker room after his win on Sunday, The Undertaker collapsed before entering the backstage area. Some fans were able to catch the collapse on camera.

The collapse was big news after the pay-per-view because of the past health issues with The Undertaker after being in the ring with Brock Lesnar. The Undertaker suffered a severe concussion during their match at WrestleMania XXX, where Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s 21-0 undefeated streak. (Vince McMahon actually rode in the ambulance with The Undertaker after last April’s match.)

So, with all that on the table, will Lesnar-Undertaker III happen? And, if it does happen, will it be at WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium?

Since this is a fantasy booking, let’s assume that The Undertaker is in pristine shape and can handle the treacherous role of getting in the ring with Brock Lesnar.

First off, yes… we’ve already seen plenty of wars between Lesnar and The Undertaker. Go get a WWE Network subscription and watch their classic matches from 2002-03, because those matches were awesome.

But, that was 12, 13 years ago, and this feud is completely different than before. Lesnar isn’t one of the hot new kids on the block with something to prove. He’s the alpha male of the WWE; an unstoppable force who massacres anything in his path.

As for The Undertaker, he’s obviously not what he used to be. He’s been on camera just a handful of times since last April, but apparently still has a little left in the tank. His performance against Lesnar on Sunday wasn’t bad at all. Their rematch was much better than the WrestleMania bout (for obvious reasons).

So, let’s say Lesnar is on a path of destruction and tormenting everyone in the 2016 Royal Rumble, and well on his way to the main event of WrestleMania 32; when all of a sudden… GONG. The lights go out, and when they come back on, in the middle of the ring stands The Undertaker. With a demonic look in his eye, The Deadman eliminates Lesnar.

Along with demigod Paul Heyman helping build the third match between the two, Lesnar and The Undertaker go back and forth in the weeks before WrestleMania 32. Then, The Deadman lays the gauntlet down for Lesnar as only The Undertaker can.

Picture a dark arena, The Undertaker appears on the titantron, and without anything being said … a cell drops down on Lesnar and Heyman in the middle of the ring. With Heyman in a state of shock and Lesnar foaming at the mouth, and The Undertaker’s eyes rolling in the back of his head, we would have one of the biggest matches in WrestleMania history.

(I was vouching for that to happen on Sunday, but I digress.)

How cool would it be to see The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar go at it inside Hell in a Cell for The Deadman’s retirement match? Sure, we’ve seen this match already, but not in front of over 100,000 people and a worldwide audience watching. Plus, Hell in a Cell wouldn’t have the reputation it does without The Undertaker. Nobody has performed in more Hell in a Cell matches than The Deadman (12), and only Triple H has as many wins as The Undertaker does (6).

The Deadman was in the first Hell in a Cell match with the man he helped retire five years ago (Shawn Michaels), and his final match would be inside “The Devil’s Playground” against the man he had arguably his best performance with inside Hell in a Cell.

There’s no telling where the Brock Lesnar-Undertaker rivalry is heading. Plus, with the latest concerns over The Undertaker’s health, booking him for one of the most dangerous matches in WWE probably wouldn’t be “best for business” (and best for the future health of The Undertaker), but he deserves to go out with a bang.
