Finn Balor

More from NXT

Having Finn Balor on this list may be the most obvious of them all. He’s at the top of NXT as the NXT Champion, headlined NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Beast in the East and likely will at NXT TakeOver: London. Don’t forget about his extensive experience in Ireland and New Japan Pro Wrestling as well.

Balor’s wrestling is there but his character has needed time to grow. While it still may be underdeveloped, he is ready for a call-up.

The former Prince Devitt can bring it in the ring. He has put on high-quality matches with Neville, Kevin Owens and Apollo Crews in the last 4-6 months. His potential match with Samoa Joe at NXT TakeOver: London in Dec. should add to the list. Balor will be able to put on a great bout with anyone who steps in the ring with him, and it’s a quality that should have him headline a main roster PPV one day.

Getting back to his character. Finn has not spoken much on a live mic, which is a little concerning. He’s never been the world’s greatest talker but he has shown to deliver a capable promo. Instead, his speaking is saved for backstage interviews and vignettes. It’s not a bad thing, but not great either.

However, Balor’s Demon persona makes up for it.

The entrance is captivating. It has a demonic, satanic feel that is unique and fascinating—almost Undertaker-esque. The walk-in is also interactive, as fans have picked up on Balor’s pose when the bright lights flash—they follow along with his pose.

Then when Demon Finn gets into the ring, all bets are off. We get the sadistic side to a usually cool, calm and collective Finn Balor. He shows off his second side and dominates his opponent. He hasn’t lost with the face paint on in NXT, yet.

The Demon persona would portray perfectly onto the main roster. Merchandise sales would be through the roof for people wanting his sleeves, a face-painted mask, or anything else Balor-related. Plus, he would add a spark to the main roster that no one is in WWE would have.

Seeing Balor on the main roster after WrestleMania 32 wouldn’t be surprising—it’s probably expected. Let’s just see where he goes with the NXT Championship first. NXT TakeOver: London may be the first sign of that.
