WWE WrestleMania 32: Should Roman Reigns Face Triple H or Brock Lesnar?

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s looking as if Roman Reigns will be returning to the main event at WrestleMania, but there are two good options in Triple H and Brock Lesnar. Each provides a great storyline opportunity, but which is best for business?

I’ll admit that I have sometimes found myself torn apart between two really good ideas – like when deciding between getting pizza or Chinese food. That’s sort of how I have felt having written separate columns about how well feuds could be built with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns facing either Brock Lesnar or Triple H at this year’s WrestleMania.

Now in some cases, you can meet in the middle and combine the two. But just like having Chinese food on a pizza, trying to put all three together in the ring would become a befuddled mess that would disappoint everyone involved and make you, the customer, feel like your money went to waste.

Reigns should face only one of these men at the biggest stage in sports entertainment, but it can be tough considering that there is a good story in either choice. So how do you handle that as a member of WWE creative?

More from Brock Lesnar

First, let’s look at what each feud would bring to the table. With a second chapter of Reigns vs Lesnar, we can provide some WWE fans with a conclusion to a storyline from last year’s WrestleMania. Reigns has also developed a lot better skill in the ring and has become accepted by the fans a lot better than last year.

Now if you look at Triple H vs Reigns, this could be a great way to build off what has gotten the Samoan Superman such a big push a few months ago when Reigns gave the WWE chief operations officer a memorable attack after losing to Sheamus for the title then.

According to rumors from multiple sources, it looks like the WWE is going more towards having Reigns and Triple H face off against each other. In a way, that might be best for business for the fact that Lesnar and Reigns don’t have to main event two consecutive WrestleMania events.

Now obviously, the two should square off for the championship to get that closure. Maybe WWE can book that match for the Fastlane pay-per-view in February; with the popular belief that Reigns will likely win the Royal Rumble for a second time and should eliminate Lesnar at the end. This would be followed by Heyman claiming Reigns never truly beat his client since all he had to do was toss him over the top rope.

After Reigns defeats Lesnar, officially, the McMahon family can start getting riled up at how they’ve tried everything to take the belt off of Reigns. Well, almost everything. There’s the old saying that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself, which can be the point of Triple H coming out of his in-ring hiatus.

Having Triple H put over the new star in WWE at WrestleMania makes sense and is likely what the creative team is planning. We’ll have to see how it’s executed on television.

Now some of you might be wondering where that leaves Mr. Lesnar. Well, I may have an idea to appease fans of the Beast Incarnate who don’t want him left off of the card – which could provide fans with a bit of a dream match for those who enjoy technical wrestling.

More on that later this week (this article isn’t about him, anyway).
