Shinsuke Nakamura Should Debut on WWE SmackDown Live

With Smackdown Live needing some more star power, WWE should send the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura over to Tuesday nights.

Since the WWE draft commenced, fans have claimed their support for Smackdown Live being the stronger show. It has helped from the show being two hours compared to RAW being 3, and having stars such as John Cena and AJ Styles.

Smackdown has also created some future stars like Alexa Bliss, Baron Corbin and the WWE champion Bray Wyatt. With their mix of young stars and seasoned veterans, fans have enjoyed Smackdown Live over the flagship show.

However, WWE prerogative will always be to make RAW the flagship show and the more popular brand. When WrestleMania ends, WWE might look to help Monday nights by ushering in the first draft lottery since the Brand Extension restarted.

WWE could use the draft lottery to pluck away stars on Smackdown like AJ Styles, The Miz, and John Cena. While Smackdown in return will get stars, they will most likely be the loser of the lottery as RAW will end up gaining more than Smackdown.

With Smackdown potentially on the verge of losing some names, there is a star in NXT who could help them quickly gain back some momentum — Shinsuke Nakamura. The former NXT champion has shown that his following in Japan was not just hype.

More from SmackDown

Nakamura has quickly become one of the most popular stars not just in NXT but in all of the WWE. The King of Strong Style recently lost his NXT Championship to Bobby Roode, with a rematch pretty much set to commence at the upcoming NXT: TakeOver special the weekend of WrestleMania 33.

WWE could have Nakamura lose the bout and then start preparing him for a debut on the main roster. They always like to debut a big name or return. The week after WrestleMania, Nakamura could be this guy for Smackdown Live.

Nakamura going to Smackdown Live also makes sense based on the real life friendship he has with Daniel Bryan. The former Bearded Superstar has revealed in the past that he is very good friends with Nakamura, and even lived in the same apartment as The King of Strong Style when he was training in California.

Their friendship could easily be put into the storyline as to why Nakamura chose to go to Smackdown Live over RAW. Him going to to the Blue Brand would also finally give it their first former NXT champion.

MORE FROM DAILY DDT:

For the most part RAW, has gotten the better NXT talents since the brand extension. While Smackdown has hit on Alexa Bliss and Baron Corbin, RAW has gotten the most decorated former NXT stars. In fact, RAW has every former NXT Champion who has been called up to the main roster, (Seth Rollins, Big E, Bo Dallas, Neville, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor & Samoa Joe). They also have gotten every former NXT Women’s Champion, (Paige, Charlotte, Sasha Banks & Bayley). Nakamura could finally end this trend and give Smackdown Live their first former NXT Champion on the blue brand.

With his charisma and his personality, Nakamura would easily become a fan favorite on the main roster. His versatility is also a huge deal as Shinsuke Nakamura could help elevate the Intercontinental Championship, like he did in NJPW with the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Nakamura also could easily enter the WWE Championship picture as well, becoming a dangerous adversary to Bray Wyatt.

The dream matchups we could see Shinsuke Nakamura have against the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton, also make him going to Smackdown Live a must. With the possibility of Smackdown Live losing some major stars, they should be compensated by gaining the King of Strong Style on their roster.
