DIY Backstage Promo

We see Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa talking about loving wrestling. They talk about making the most out of their opportunity during the 2015 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The attention is turned toward their title reign and wanting to win again in Orlando.

A great follow-up to the match we just saw. In a controlled environment, this work from Gargano and Ciampa was excellent and showcased their real personalities, instead of being in front of a crowd with a hot microphone. While they do need to be able to talk in front of the audience, this was a good step toward that and making the Triple Threat tag match at TakeOver feel very important.

More from NXT

Aleister Black Vignette

We get our latest vignette for Aleister Black, where we get more of a visual of the former Tommy end. The end of this promo showed the word “TakeOver.”

Black’s debut should fill a critical role on a match card that may have a better undercard than main event. This, the NXT Tag Team Championship and even what’s potentially to come has more intrigue than the main event. There’s more excitement and unpredictability around these bouts, both of which could outshine Bobby Roode vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka vs. Ember Moon, as fresh as the latter bout is.

Asuka vs. Enhancement Talent

Result: Asuka defeats the Enhancement Talent via submission.

Before the match starts, Asuka goes on the microphone and says, “This is your fate.” She then kicks the head off the enhancement talent and beats her down. This looked like it was going to end in 30 seconds, until the Empress stopped the pinfall on her own and continued the attack.

Asuka looked like a sadistic savage here, which is how she should always look. She’s the undefeated NXT Women’s Champion, and should look as dominant as possible at every turn.

After the match, Asuka went on the microphone and shouted a promo in Japanese. She finished it with, “No eclipse.”

Someone is going to walk out of TakeOver with their first loss. It’s just a question of who.
