WWE: A Samoa Joe Return at Survivor Series Makes Sense

After an injury that was expected to keep Samoa Joe out of action for a little over a month, the question became why have we not seen Joe back on Raw yet?  The answer could be that they are saving him for a bigger and better return than most fans could imagine.

Almost a month ago, Samoa Joe revealed to Sky Sports that he was expecting to return to the ring in the next few weeks. Only a final clearance by WWE doctors was standing in the way.  So the question is now, where is Joe?

Well, either one of two things is currently going on right now.  There is either an unanticipated roadblock for Joe to clear, or he is being held back for a much bigger return.  If WWE history is any indication, I would expect the latter.

So what is the big occasion that WWE is holding Joe back for?  It has to be Survivor Series.  Who would be more of a statement to return against than “The Beast” Brock Lesnar?

Now we already know that Lesnar has a match with Jinder Mahal at Survivor Series.  Interference by Joe makes a Mahal win over Lesnar much more believable than the Singh Brothers doing anything to slow down The Beast.

Joe making his presence known at Survivor Series not only gets Mahal more heat, but it puts himself back in the spotlight.  Even if Lesnar ends up feuding with Finn Balor or Roman Reigns come WrestleMania season, Joe will be a great bridge to get him to that point.

Let’s also remember that Joe’s performance versus Lesnar last time around ended up making Joe look more credible.  A repeat performance of The Samoan Submission Machine dominating Lesnar in the build to a potential showdown, paired with another closely contested match would help both superstars.

Not only does Joe validate that he is one of the toughest superstars in WWE, but Lesnar comes out looking tougher than ever having survived Joe for the second time.  The key to a feud between Lesnar and Joe is how a return would be booked at Survivor Series, and how it would be followed up.

Now I already mentioned that if the Singh Brothers found a way to interfere in the match it would have very little impact.  Considering that Randy Orton manhandled both Singh Brothers every time he got his hands on them, imagine what Lesnar would do to men that size.

This is where Joe is needed to help get Mahal the win.  Joe could physically assault Lesnar with his striking ability, but the most likely method would be by the Coquina Clutch, which almost put Lesnar unconscious before.

This time though, the Coquina Clutch will render The Beast defenseless and unconscious.  I can already imagine the sound of Paul Heyman begging Joe to stop.  The visual of Lesnar being choked-out by Joe will give The Samoan Submission Machine permanent bragging rights.

All in all, is Joe going to somehow slay “The Beast”?  Probably not.  But does a return at Survivor Series put Joe immediately back on the marquee?  Yes, and the key is that Joe would then carry that momentum right into WrestleMania season following a main event feud with WWE’s top star.
