WWE: Braun Strowman Should Get Chance at Top Guy Status Instead of Roman Reigns
With Roman Reigns taking another loss, it’s time for the WWE to focus on another superstar. By winning the Greatest Royal Rumble, Braun Strowman has stated a case for himself.
With WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble officially in the books, fans are able to focus on the upcoming pay-per-view, Backlash. During this production, we’ll see Roman Reigns take on Samoa Joe, despite being on separate brands. That’s because it will be the first co-branded pay-per-view since the WWE announced its decision to go forth with that. However, the match won’t be for the Universal Championship, like fans originally expected.
In an interesting twist, Roman Reigns was yet again unsuccessful in taking Brock’s title this Friday. Roman did look like a true competitor, though, fiercely spearing Brock Lesnar through the steel cage. Of course, Brock hit the floor first, so technically he won. Controversial? Maybe. But a decent end, nonetheless:
It’s curious why the company decided against putting the belt on Roman, though. Originally, fans believed that he’d certainly become champion in Saudi Arabia. It has been widely believed the “Big Dog” is considered a top Superstar in the Middle Eastern countries.
Perhaps they opted against it so they could “erase” CM Punk’s longest title reign from the history books. It’s a legitimate possibility, and one that is widely believed by fans. Brock is only about a month and a half away from eclipsing that record.
No matter what their reasoning, it’s a good thing they decided not to go with the anticipated plan. Roman wasn’t as well received by the audience as expected, but Brock was.
Now that the GRR is over, though, the WWE really needs to start looking at other potential top Superstars.
Clearly, Reigns is not heading in the upward direction WWE had hoped. If the company is still hot on giving him a nice title run, then they need to turn him heel. At least then he’d be getting booed for a reason.

Turning Roman Reigns into a heel is looking less likely because unfortunately, the WWE never likes doing unpredictable things. However, they absolutely need to start pushing other superstars towards the top. Who could possibly fit the bill?
Braun Strowman winning the GRR match might be an insight into how the management sees him. Braun has proven himself to be over with the crowd, with kids, and with his merchandise. Even former RAW Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss, sings praises about him.
So, if Braun isn’t the next top guy, it will be shocking. He is one of the most believable opponents to properly take on Brock. Unfortunately, Brock is a fickle guy. Sometimes he gives the impression he’s not as interested in certain matches compared to others. How would he feel going up against a relative rookie in Braun Strowman? Could such a match deliver to its fullest potential?
Perhaps that is the reason why Braun hasn’t been in the ring with the “Beast Incarnate” for the Universal Championship in a singles match yet. And even if that’s not why, there may be no other options now that Reigns is proven to be a bust.

For once, maybe the WWE should go outside the box and begin pushing the guy we all want to see powerslam Brock straight into the canvas. Here’s hoping.
