WWE Survivor Series 2019: Full card preview and predictions
Adam Cole (c) vs. Pete Dunne – NXT Championship
While every match at Survivor Series serves as brand warfare, the three top champions will have to defend their titles against members of their own brand. The most recently booked of these matches is this one. Pete Dunne earned his title shot after defeating Killian Dain and Damian Priest in a number one contenders match last night at TakeOver. That same night, Adam Cole took a nasty dive off a WarGames cage through a table.
In kayfabe, Dunne is clearly the fresher of the two. Cole should be ripe for the pickings, but I feel like he’s still got a few title matches and feuds left in the background (i.e. against Ciampa, the man who drove him off the cage) before he drops the belt to anyone. Therefore, the title remains Undisputed.
Winner: Adam Cole
The Fiend (c) vs. Daniel Bryan – Universal Championship
Because “The Fiend never forgets,” the Universal Champion revisited an old feud of Bray Wyatt’s by randomly attacking the former leader of The Yes Movement, just as he’s in the middle of contemplating rejoining that movement.
Bryan was game for a fight, so he challenged Wyatt to a fight at Survivor Series with his belt on the line and Wyatt said “YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!” A man of only so many words, of course.
Anyway, this is The Fiend’s first title match since winning the belt last month. If Rollins could not beat him with 907 Curb Stomps, don’t expect a Knee Plus or a Label Lock to the trick. Simply put, The Fiend retains. Probably the safest bet you could make here.
Winner: The Fiend
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Rey Mysterio – WWE Championship – No Holds Barred
In the most story driven of the three title matches, Rey Mysterio has been seeking vengeance against Brock Lesnar for senselessly attacking his son, Dominic (who is 22-years old and NOT a child, don’t let WWE lie to you). This has led to Mysterio attacking Lesnar on multiple occasions until finally receiving a title match in a No Holds Barred match.
The No DQ stipulation at least increases Mysterio’s chances a bit. We can certainly expect interference from the likes of Dio Maddin (who was senselessly attacked by Lesnar on Raw three weeks ago trying to defend Jerry Lawler and has been M.I.A. ever since) or maybe even Cain Velasquez. Plus, it’ll be a bummer ending to a story for a guy to watch his kid get beat up, defend him, then only get beat up himself.
But WWE’s notorious for their bummer endings. Expect another.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
