3. The New Day’s bid for KofiMania

KofiMania was always going to sell like hot cakes. At least in a way where people wanted to see Kofi Kingston put in his first one-on-one WWE Championship match. Kofi Kingston, prior to even becoming a member of The New Day, had accumulated the love and adoration of the WWE to where most of the fanbase wanted to see him succeed.

But this promo? This is where everything on the road to WrestleMania for Kofi truly clicked with fans. This was the moment that fans decided that Kofi needed to win the WWE Championship if he ever finally got the title shot that he so desperately deserved.

Using the fact that he had never received a one-on-one World Title match and that both he and fans knew that “people like him” were never given big main event opportunities in WWE, Kofi portrayed a man who knew his place in the grand scheme and knew he was capable of something bigger. Despite being told he only checked one box in WWE, he was willing to fight to reach the promise land.

This is the promo where Kofi Kingston poured out every level of emotion he could to, in character, justify getting that WWE Championship shot at Mania to Vince McMahon and, in reality, justify getting that title shot in the eyes of the fans. Any fans who were already not in full support of Kofi Kingston before this promo, they certainly must have been won over after this promo was over and maybe, just maybe, some viewers shed a tear watching this.
