Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles Could Lead to Bullet Club’s WWE Debut
The impending Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles match may lead to a highly anticipated debut in the coming weeks.
At WrestleMania 32, AJ Styles and Roman Reigns had interesting experiences. The Phenomenal One lost to Chris Jericho when many expected him to win. The Big Dog defeated Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in an expected result but highly disappointing match. They appeared to be walking out of the show as “losers”.
Then Monday Night Raw came and something seemed different.

The flagship show after WrestleMania is usually a chance for WWE to start fresh. New storylines are created, face and heel turns occur, and the call-up of talent from NXT takes place. It’s why this show is usually the best one of the year.

When Reigns walked out around the 9 PM ET hour to cut a promo, he had an attitude unseen by WWE fans. He was cocky, prideful and didn’t care what anyone thought of him as champion. This was fitting with the fans heavily booing him.
Then Roman called out anyone to challenge him. This led to Styles, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn coming out, wanting a chance at the title. This was a fresh cast of stars for the main event scene, which WWE has often been criticized for not doing. Shane McMahon would later put these four Superstars into a No. 1 Contender’s match (Cesaro would sub for Zayn who was taken out in storyline by Owens).
Then the main event came and went, and to the surprise of many, Styles walked out as the new No. 1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He even pinned the man who everyone claimed “buried” him.
So WWE accomplished a few things with this episode that can be lumped together: they made Reigns and Styles into main event talents.
Fans who have watched the former TNA World Champion for over a decade knows that he’s capable of being a top star. He dominated Impact Wrestling and fit into New Japan Pro Wrestling perfectly for two years, holding the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice. Fans of WWE knew this and graced him with open arms. It’s probably a reason why the company has pushed him to the upper-echelon of the roster.
As for Reigns, it’s a bit self-explanatory since WWE has looked to make him a main event star for years. The booking has been incredibly poor, though.
With this feud of babyface (Styles) vs. tweener (Reigns), something seems fishy. We’re probably destined for a long feud between the two sides, so a possible match at WWE Payback isn’t going to end clean. Could that mean we have someone or multiple people interfering?
At Monday’s Raw, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson were backstage for the show. They did not debut, though, as WWE is likely waiting for the proper time. Many thought they would show up on the episode as that’s what has been speculated for months.
What was also interesting is Finn Balor not being there with them. The assumed plan was for this trio to debut as the Balor Club, but what if that’s not the case? What if Anderson and Gallows come in by themselves and interfere?

WWE is in need of a monster heel, and as they have shown, these bad guys often have people around them. Look at The Wyatt Family before their face turn as an example of this. Styles clearly doesn’t have the look of a monster heel, but Reigns does. He’s a big guy with long hair and has a spear finisher that can look vicious given the forceful impact. Fans could certainly buy him in this role. A recent article on Bleacher Report noted how this feud could facilitate a Reigns heel turn.
There is also the idea of continuity. While it probably shouldn’t matter that Anderson and Gallows turned on Styles in NJPW, some fans may have an idea of this already. They would question why these three would team back up despite tensions overseas. This would be a tiny minority, though, which WWE caters to on occasion.
So why not freshen things up even more and pair Anderson and Gallows with Reigns to form a stable? WWE is need of a new group with The League of Nations slowly disbanding, The Authority possibly disappearing and The Wyatt Family turning face. New Day could be included in this, but they’re in a league of their own.
So in the main event of Payback, just as Styles is about to pin Reigns after hitting the Phenomenal Forearm, Anderson and Gallows would appear on the apron and distract him. Styles would have a shocked look on his face and charge after one of them. Whoever is not being attacked would club AJ from behind and cause a disqualification. Reigns would get up after the beat down, have Gallows and Anderson hold up Styles, and hit a spear to stand tall and close out the pay-per-view.
So what do you do with Balor if he was destined to come up with his friends?

The Demon could simply join the group at some point during the summer to make this faction strong. They could battle with the likes of Styles, Dean Ambrose and maybe a returning Seth Rollins or Randy Orton.
Eventually, Balor could break off with Anderson and Gallows by turning on Reigns. Finn would then form the Balor Club and become a star as the leader of the group. The former Shield man may be over with the crowd by that time and that’s when WWE could finally pull the trigger on him being the top babyface the company has dreamed of.
