WWE WrestleMania 32: Can Zack Ryder’s Career Be Resurrected?

Earning his first appearance at WrestleMania in four years, Zack Ryder, can use the event to help bring his career back to where it once looked it was going.

It has been an interesting WWE career for Zack Ryder to say the least. Back in 2011, the Ryder Revolution began. The Long Island Iced Z gained a cult following when he began started doing his internet show “Z! True Long Island Story”. Chants in arenas began, as the “We want Ryder” chant started taking over arenas.

Superstars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, CM Punk and The Rock, started to follow Ryder and also gave their opinion that Ryder needed to be pushed. WWE finally realized the Ryder Revolution was legit when at the 2011 Survivor Series when WWE decided to give John Morrison a match for the United States Championship over Ryder.

The Madison Square Garden crowd took over the match with a deafening chant of “We want Ryder”. The next month at TLC, Ryder got his match against Dolph Ziggler, winning his first singles belt: the United States Championship. It seemed that the Broski was on his way to being a constant star in the WWE going forward.

However, bad booking that saw Ryder get destroyed by Kane for numerous weeks, being embarrassed by Eve Torres, and losing the U.S. title to Jack Swagger caused his career took a tail dive. Having WWE taking control of his popular web show, Ryder ended the show at 100 episodes claiming that it was no longer fun.

Ryder then went down a path of being a consistent jobber. He went from being on Raw every week to only appearing sporadically, usually in losing efforts to main event stars. Recently, Ryder has been down in NXT trying to start a tag team with Mojo Rawley.

Apparently, Ryder was even in planned discussions for even participating at WrestleMania. However, after Neville got injured, WWE wanted to add another member into the ladder match. They decided to give it to Ryder and he has been given a great gift in being in this match at WrestleMania.

Ryder can use the ladder match at WrestleMania 32, to kick start his career to where it once was. He doesn’t have to win all but has to play a memorable part of the show. WrestleMania is all about the moments, not always about the winners. An example of this is back at WrestleMania X when Shawn Michaels fought Razor Ramon in a ladder match. While HBK lost the match, he is the one most remembered for this bout because of the innovations and moments he put on.

Two years later, Michaels was winning the WWF Championship in the main event of WrestleMania. Ryder can go into this match, create a lasting moment, and be remembered most for the match even if he losses.

If Ryder can create a moment that we are talking about for years to come, that will be a bigger win than leaving with the Intercontinental Championship. If Zack puts on a good showing, he could once again become a constant member of the main roster competing regularly on Raw and SmackDown.

Gaining this opportunity at WrestleMania, Zack Ryder should do everything in his power to create a moment that we shall never forget. If so, he could once again be on the path of being a future star in WWE.
